At last, able to sidestep the Big Time

What a surprise and pleasure to hear from you! Well, this is what I have been up to this last year . . .

I had a book published – A Century of Canadian Cinema – GP's Feature Film Guide: Movies for Cinema and Televison. I had worked on it for two years and now I'm bringing it up-to-date for publication next year.

Otherwise I have finished teaching and broadcasting, while giving most new films a wide berth. Big festivals are out – here and abroad – and I much prefer being involved with smaller but important events such as “A Week of New Canadian Films” at Kingston, Ont. and the “Marie Dressler Vintage Film Festival” in Cobourg, Ont.

And next year I have been invited to be on the Advisory board, Film Studies, at Humber College in Toronto.

I'm living quietly in this countryside town of Stirling Ontario close to my family.

With all best wishes, and I'm excited by this Sime’s site and the meeting next year. Looking forward to seeing you all again.
